Wavy green, maroon flushed leaves which gradually change to shades of vibrant crimson from late summer onwards and become intensely red in the autumn. The clusters of large flower bracts (2.5-5cm across) are creamy white, maturing to a soft pink picotee edge and are followed in autumn by red, strawberry-like fruits. These are edible but the skin is tough and unpalatable!
Flowers from May to June
A hardy, low maintenance deciduous tree with a broadly conical form
Compact size - 1.8-2.4m tall, ideal for smaller gardens
Provides all-year round interest to your garden with colours for each season
Our trees are professionally pruned before dispatching. This formative pruning can involve cutting the main leader, if the expert tree growers decide this will produce a better shaped tree. This can stop the tree becoming "leggy", and promote stronger, bushier growth.MORE
