Suffice it to say that \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eDon Cenobio\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e founded his first distillery in \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e1873\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e, passing it on to generation after generation, then some of the land was sold, then bought back, and renamed\u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e Tequila Los Abuelos.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e But a Rum had that name, so they had to get the trademark thing worked out… yadda, yadda, yadda… now they have been making Tequila under the Fortaleza name for the last decade.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp\u003eFortaleza Tequila is based in \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eJalisco\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e—the Mecca of Tequila—using brick ovens, Tahano stone mills, and a pair of \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ecopper pot stills \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003ein the escuala-vieja way (old school). They produce a traditional line of three core Tequilas: a Blanco, a Reposado and an Anejo, along with the occasional special edition.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp\u003eFor years, you could only get\u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e Fortaleza Still Strength Blanco Tequila \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003eat their distillery. Until now. Now, you can basically taste their premium Blanco \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003estraight from the still\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e. All the aromas of fruit, baked fully-ripened agave, green olive, and earth are very much there. The palate is a tad brighter and more rustic than the regular Blanco with hints of butter, olive, earth, black pepper, and vegetal notes.
